Arboretum sell add-on audio effects to supplement those supplied with the application. That comes as no surprise given that Aroboretum are the makers of the highly regarded Ray Gun Denoise tool for Windows. HyperEngine-AV comes with free sound effects from Arboretum, which is also an audio processing tool. Dragging clips over each other creates a real-time dissolve that can then be edited to any of a range of transitions or compositional effects. The Overview arrangement is free-form, not limited by tracks so clips can be arraanged, spliced, split, time stretched or syncrhonized in the same window without reference to the type of clip or track. HyperEngine-AV’s main window is the Overview window where clips are captured or imported and arranged. HyperEngine-AV supports all QuickTime supported video and audio formats including the ability to capture direct from DV source within HyperEngine-AV. HyperEngine-AV is a free-form tool for combining video, photos, audio and text media inside the one window for the creation of standard definition slide shows, movies, presentations or "feature films". Their plug-ins will, however, continue to be commercial software. Arboretum Systems have released their newest version of Montage as HyperEngine-AV and priced it at free.
